HOSTOS ACADEMIC LEARNING CENTER
The Hostos Academic Learning Center (HALC), located in C-596, is a complete learning environment that allows students to receive the academic help they need in a setting that is rich in resources and support academic success. Throughout the academic year, the HALC programs activities that focus on the skills development of students, including tutorial support and self-guided tutorials. Tutorial services are available at the HALC in most introductory courses offered at Hostos. Tutors work with students to provide general course review and pre-exam preparation.

FALL 2024 TUTORING SCHEDULE

In-Person: Mondays to Thursdays 11am - 6pm and Fridays 11am - 3pm.
Virtual Tutoring: Mondays to Thursdays 12pm - 9pm and Fridays 11am - 3pm.

Tutoring services won't be available while classes are not in session.

• To request a tutoring appointment and download the MICROSOFT TEAMS APP, you must sign into your Microsoft Account with your CUNYFirst username and password (e.g. firstname.lastname#@login.cuny.edu)

HALC Tutoring Policy

• Students are expected to arrive on time for their tutoring sessions.

• Students must adhere to the university's academic integrity policies during tutoring sessions.

• Students who are unable to attend a scheduled session should notify the tutoring center at HALCTutoring@hostos.cuny.edu

• Students are encouraged to come prepared for tutoring sessions. Students should bring relevant course material(s), textbook(s), and assignment(s), and ask specific questions.

• Tutors are here to assist students get a deeper understanding of course content, prepare for exams, and develop problem-solving skills.

• To maximize the benefits of tutoring, students are encouraged to attend sessions regularly rather than relying solely on occasional help.
